Gas Chromatography-Flame Ionization Detection (GC-FID) is an analytical technique that is used to separate and analyse mixtures consisting of volatile components. The liquid sample is vaporized in the injection port. Typically, the compounds analysed are less than 1,000 Da, because it is difficult to vaporize larger compounds. GC is popular for environmental monitoring and industrial applications because it is very reliable and can be run nearly continuously. GC is typically used in applications where small, volatile molecules are detected and with non-aqueous solutions.

General Rules and Requirements: 

1. Sample must be in the range of 0.5 ml – 2 ml only.
2. Solvent is required to be brought with sample to rinse the syringe.
3. Sample must be volatile and dissolve in organic solvent. Water and aqueous sample will not be accepted.
4. Sample need to be clean, homogenous and filtered with filter membrane beforehand.
5. It is compulsory for sample from petroleum waste and palm oil to be converted to derivative form, fatty acid and methyl ester.
6. It is compulsory to attach journal of reference.
7. Sample need to be clearly labelled.
8. All analysis prices are subject to change.
9. Estimated waiting period for result is within 1 – 2 weeks.
