• Voltage: The potential difference generated across the MFC terminals.
• Current: The flow of electrons through the external circuit.
• pH: Crucial for monitoring the conditions in both the anode and cathode chambers.
• Temperature: MFC performance can be non-linear with temperature changes, making it an important variable to monitor.
• Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD): Measuring the efficiency of the MFC in removing organic pollutants from wastewater.
• Coulombic Efficiency (CE): The ratio of total charge transferred to the anode to the maximum possible charge from the substrate.
• Internal Resistance: A key factor affecting power output, which can be determined by running polarization tests.
