Microtomy is the technique of cutting tissues in very small sections. This technique is used for histological and pathological studies. A tissue (or small part of it) is embedded in paraffin wax and then cut using a microtome (a machine) to get thin sections.

This Leica microtome is designed for manual routine paraffin sectioning but can also be used for cutting harder materials. The Leica RM2235 rotary microtome is perfectly suited for those who expect precision sectioning and appreciate the feel and extra measure of control during manual sectioning.
